Following the announcement on 12th July that from the 19th July restrictions on communal worship will be removed, the Leadership Team have met and decided the following:
Phase 1 - From Sunday 25th July
We will return to one physical gathering at 11am which we will continue to live stream for now. This will be reviewed in phase 2.
We will continue to have a booking system in order to track and trace people should the need arise. This will be done via Eventbrite. We have been operating on approx. 15% of our pre-covid capacity. This will increase to the region of 55%, enabling a capacity of approx. 100 people including children. We are also actively looking to provide an over-flow into the café area as well.
Sunday school will no longer be limited to 15 children, though over the summer it will remain as one group. We are seeking to restart creche though this will depend on building a team. Children will no longer go straight into their groups on arrival, but we will worship all together for the first part of the service.
We will resume sung worship.
Whilst masks are no longer mandatory, we continue to recommend wearing them in line with government recommendations as the building is an enclosed space. Though we do acknowledge your personal freedom in this area.
We will continue to have hand sanitising stations which we ask you to use on both arrival and departure.
We will continue to ventilate the building as much as possible by opening windows. We encourage you to consider the weather and prepare if it is colder, as the windows will remain open whatever the weather during the gathering.
There will no longer be a seating plan, and we will be having rows of chairs. We will have available on arrival, sheets that you can place besides you should you wish to keep some distancing between you and others. Once you are seated, we encourage you to remain seated and not to walk around and chat with people. At the end of the service, the stewards will release you row by row to avoid a bottle neck as people leave. So please remain in your seat until instructed to leave.
We will not be providing space for socialising in the building before or after the service due to the building being an enclosed space. However, when the weather is good, we will put some chairs on the grass area for people to sit and chat. Some may wish to bring a blanket. The kitchen will remain closed for now so you might like to bring your own refreshments.
For communion we will continue to use the pre-packaged elements. Offering containers will be available on arrival and departure.
Within our church family there is a variety of perspectives on the pandemic, therefore we ask that you treat each other with, love, grace, and understanding, respecting each other’s views and freedoms. This is particularly needed in the area of socialising and physical contact. Whilst some may be more than happy to hug, shake hands, and hold long conversations, not everyone will be, so we ask that before initiating such contact, you ask if they are comfortable with doing so. In light of this the stewards will refrain from offering physical contact at this time.
While these guidelines will constantly be kept under review during the summer, we will undertake a comprehensive review in September which will determine the nature of Phase 2.
